If there's one thing, we have plenty of in Albuquerque, it's sunshine. With over 310 sunny days per year, our high desert climate is practically begging us to harness all that natural energy. As your trusted real estate advisor for over two decades, I've watched solar power transform from a rare luxury to a wise investment, lighting up our housing market. Today, let's talk about how solar installations significantly boost home selling prices across Duke City.

Do you know the sunny side of solar economics? When homeowners ask me about solar, their first question is usually about the numbers. Let's discuss that: The average cost of installing a residential solar system in Albuquerque currently ranges from $15,000 to $25,000 before incentives. The total cost will depend on the system size and quality. That might initially sound steep, but here's where it gets interesting.

Recent sales data collected by my team at Sandi Pressley Team shows that homes with owned solar systems are selling for approximately 4.2% more than comparable non-solar homes in the same neighborhoods. A $400,000 home in the North Valley or Four Hills area translates to a premium of nearly $17,000 – often covering most of the installation investment right at the point of sale.

Now I'm interested in how this trend has been accelerating in recent years. In 2022, the premium was hovering around 3.1%. However, as energy costs continue rising and more buyers have become environmentally conscious, we've seen that figure climbing steadily. Recently, we helped sell a solar-equipped home in High Desert that received three competing offers, all above the asking price, with buyers specifically citing the solar system as a major attraction.

Solar Energy is about more than just savings. The financial appeal goes beyond the immediate property value increase. New homeowners in solar-powered Albuquerque properties are reporting average monthly savings of $120-150 on their electric bills. Over the typical 25-year lifespan of a quality solar system, that adds up to approximately $36,000-45,000 in savings—all while being protected from future utility rate increases.

One of my recent clients, who purchased a solar-equipped home in the Tanoan community, called me last week. They were thrilled about their first summer electric bill. "Sandi," they told me, “Our July bill was $28 compared to the $220 we paid at our old house last year. We should have done this years ago!"

The Cherry on the top is the 2025 tax incentives. The financial picture gets even brighter when you factor in available tax incentives. The federal solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) continues to be one of the most significant financial benefits, currently offering homeowners a 30% tax credit on the total cost of their solar system through 2032. For a $20,000 system, that's a direct $6,000 reduction in your federal tax liability.

Beyond federal incentives, New Mexico has maintained its Solar Market Development Tax Credit, which provides an additional 10% state tax credit (up to $6,000). With PNM's renewable energy incentives and net metering program, Albuquerque homeowners can recoup as much as 45-50% of their initial investment through various incentives alone.

We worked with a family who was selling their home in Ventana Ranch. The home did have Solar installed. They meticulously tracked their financial benefits over the five years they owned their system. Between tax credits, energy savings, and the increased sale price, their $18,000 investment ultimately returned over $30,000 – a fact that made for a compelling selling point in our marketing materials.

How does Albuquerque give you a unique solar advantage? Albuquerque's high desert climate creates nearly ideal conditions for solar energy production. With our elevation, clear air, and abundant sunshine, local solar systems typically generate 15-20% more energy than identical systems in many other parts of the country. This environmental advantage translates directly into financial benefits for homeowners.

During my 25 years of helping Albuquerque families buy and sell homes, I've developed relationships with several reputable local solar installers. They consistently report that systems here outperform their projected energy production estimates, often paying themselves off 1-2 years faster than national averages would suggest.

I want to share some results from recent sales. My team at Sandi Pressley Team has been tracking solar home sales across Albuquerque neighborhoods, and the results speak for themselves. Here are a few examples from our recent transactions:
In the past six months alone, solar-equipped homes in North Albuquerque Acres sold in an average of 18 days, compared to 29 days for similar non-solar homes. In Rio Rancho, we're seeing solar homes command premiums of $3.50-$4.25 per watt of installed capacity—meaning a standard 6kW system adds approximately $21,000-$25,500 to the home's value.

Perhaps most telling is what happens during home showings. When potential buyers tour solar-equipped properties with me, they invariably discuss the system, ask questions about savings, and mentally calculate their potential return on investment. The tangible value is obvious to today's savvy Albuquerque buyers.

Let’s take a minute to go beyond the numbers. Maintaining a comfortable home throughout our hot summers while not stressing over expensive electric bills will give you peace of mind.

Although the financial benefits can be attractive, I've noticed an interesting trend in my conversations with buyers: Albuquerque home buyers are valuing the non-monetary benefits of solar power more today.

Additionally, with Albuquerque occasionally experiencing power fluctuations during monsoon season, homes with battery storage systems offer another layer of security that many buyers find extremely attractive. One of my clients in the Foothills maintained full power during last summer's outage, even helping neighbors charge phones and store refrigerated medications.

Now if you’re considering selling your home in 2025 and thinking about adding solar, you need to think about when to install and when to list your home. Timing matters if you're considering adding solar before selling your Albuquerque home. Ideally, you should install the system so that it runs for at least 6-12 months before listing, allowing you to demonstrate actual energy savings rather than just projected benefits. My team can help determine whether solar and the selling timeline make sense for your property.

Knowing how to evaluate a solar system on a potential home is equally important for buyers. Is it owned or leased? What's the remaining warranty period? How has it performed historically? As someone who has guided hundreds of solar home transactions throughout Albuquerque, I ensure my clients understand what they're getting and how it impacts their investment.

Let Albuquerque’s 310 sunny days per year, work for you! Whether you're looking to maximize your home's value before selling or searching for an energy-efficient property that will save you money for decades, solar power represents one of the brightest opportunities in today's Albuquerque real estate market.

At the Sandi Pressley Team, we've made it our business to understand the intersection of renewable energy and real estate value in our unique high desert environment. We've helped countless homeowners navigate solar decisions, and we've seen firsthand how these investments pay dividends both financially and in quality of life.

In today's competitive Albuquerque real estate market, first impressions aren't just important—they're everything. With over 90% of home searches beginning online, the photos of your property are often the first (and sometimes only) chance to capture a potential buyer's interest. At the Sandi Pressley Team, we've seen firsthand how exceptional photography generates interest, click-throughs, and qualified buyers who purchase your home quickly and for more money. Homes that hit the market with sub-par images sit on the market much longer before selling and do not command top dollar.

“The Numbers Don't Lie!” Properties with high-quality photos sell faster and for more money—it's that simple. I've repeatedly watched it happen throughout my career in Albuquerque real estate. Homes with professional photos sell up to 32% faster than those without. Properties with high-quality images often command higher asking prices per square foot. And listings with professional photography receive significantly more online views.

In Albuquerque's diverse neighborhoods, from the historic charm of Nob Hill to the luxurious estates in High Desert and Tanoan, showcasing your home's unique features in the right way is essential to attracting the right buyers. You may wonder if taking high-quality, stunning real estate photos yourself is possible. I'd love to share some professional tips to elevate your results if you're considering it.

DIY Photography Tips from the Sandi Pressley Team. Timing is everything when it comes to photography. Take your photos during Albuquerque's "golden hours," which occur shortly after sunrise or before sunset when natural light is soft and flattering. Albuquerque is wonderful during these times when our warm desert light highlights our mountain vistas and adobe architecture.

Before you even pick up your camera, declutter completely. Remove personal items, excess furniture, and anything that distracts from the space. You want potential buyers to envision themselves in the home, not be distracted by your collection of refrigerator magnets!

Always use a tripod. It might seem like an extra step, but it eliminates camera shake and allows for consistent framing. When taking the photos, try shooting from corners – this technique makes rooms appear larger and more inviting.

Remember to capture multiple angles of each space. Each room should have several perspectives to give online viewers a complete sense of the space. And don't forget to focus on key selling features – those mountain views, custom finishes, and outdoor living spaces that make Albuquerque homes so special.

First, you need to leverage technology. Today's technology offers several fantastic options to enhance your property photos.

Modern smartphones produce impressive images when appropriately used with good lighting. There are also virtual staging apps that can digitally furnish empty spaces to help buyers envision the potential of a blank room.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography is beneficial in our sunny Albuquerque climate. It balances light and dark areas, perfect for capturing bright interiors with gorgeous mountain views through the windows.

If you're comfortable with basic editing, programs like Adobe Lightroom can enhance colors, correct perspective, and fix minor issues in your photos. Just be careful not to over-edit – buyers want an accurate representation of your home.

While DIY options have improved tremendously, professional photography is still the gold standard. Nothing compares to professional real estate photography. Professionals use specialized equipment, such as wide-angle lenses, professional lighting, and high-end cameras, to capture spaces accurately and beautifully.

They're also experts at composition, knowing exactly how to frame shots to highlight strengths and minimize weaknesses. Professional photography provides consistent quality—every room receives the same attention to detail.
Many clients also use aerial photography to showcase their property's location, lot size, and neighborhood context. Drone photography is becoming more popular every day. Virtual tours with 360° walkthroughs give buyers an immersive experience before visiting the property—something especially valuable for out-of-state buyers moving to Albuquerque. The Sandi Pressley Team offers a real advantage when selling your Albuquerque home.

At the Sandi Pressley Team, exceptional photography is just one component of our comprehensive marketing strategy. As Albuquerque's premier real estate experts, we understand that selling your home requires a multifaceted approach.

We include a professional photography package with every listing because we know how crucial it is to present your home in its best light. We also give you access to our extensive list of active buyers looking for homes in your neighborhood.

Our comprehensive digital marketing plan targets qualified local and relocation buyers through our powerful online presence. We've spent years building multiple high-traffic websites, real estate blogs, and an engaged social media audience across platforms to provide maximum exposure for your property to precisely the right audience.

We also create virtual tours and 3D walkthroughs for many of our listings to attract out-of-state buyers relocating to Albuquerque who can't visit in person immediately.

Our marketing approach has consistently delivered results across all Albuquerque neighborhoods, from UNM and Downtown to the North Valley and Four Hills. We know these areas intimately and understand how to highlight what makes each property unique.

Are you ready to Showcase Your Albuquerque Home? Don't let poor photography cost you time and money in today's competitive market. The Sandi Pressley Team combines exceptional photography with decades of local market expertise to ensure your property stands out.

I'd love to discuss your situation and share how we might market your unique property. Call me at (505) 555-1234 or email me at [email protected] for a friendly, no-pressure conversation about your home-selling goals.

Albuquerque's Historic Route 66: Where Our Past Meets the Present

by Sandi Pressley

Hey there, Albuquerque friends! Thanks for stopping by. Today I want to take you on an extraordinary journey down memory lane – or should I say, down Central Avenue? As someone who's spent decades helping families find their perfect homes in this beautiful city, I've watched Route 66 evolve while keeping its unmistakable charm.
The Sandi Pressley Team and I have been thrilled to watch the recent developments along Route Historic 66 as the "Mother Road" gets a modern makeover. The new mixed-use projects between Nob Hill and Downtown have brought fresh energy while preserving those classic Route 66 vibes we all love.

You know what makes me smile? Seeing how our beloved Central Avenue has managed to keep its soul while confidently stepping into the future. We're watching history blend with progress right before our eyes and let me tell you—it's spectacular! Remember those iconic neon signs that made Route 66 famous? Well, they're still here and getting some new neighbors!
Our team regularly takes clients through this area to help them experience the magic, and they're always amazed by the perfect balance of old and new.

Let me share some of my favorite spots where old meets new (and trust me, after helping countless families discover Albuquerque's neighborhoods, I know where the good stuff is!
The De Anza Motor Lodge is a perfect example of thoughtful preservation. This historic gem has been transformed into a modern living space while keeping its distinctive Southwestern art and architecture. As a real estate expert, I consider these properties to honor our heritage while offering modern amenities and absolute treasures. Nob Hill has become a vibrant showcase of how to blend vintage architecture with contemporary needs. We're seeing local businesses breathe new life into historic buildings. Like those developments along that stretch between Carlisle and Girard.

But what does that mean for Albuquerque and our Community? Here's something we've noticed at The Sandi Pressley Team: properties near these revitalized Route 66 corridors are becoming increasingly desirable. Why? Because people want to be part of a community that values its history while embracing progress. The new dining spots, boutiques, and entertainment venues along Central create vibrant neighborhoods that attract young professionals and families.

I'm proud to be part of Albuquerque's story but how do we continue looking forward while honoring our past? The city's plans for continued development along Route 66 show a real commitment to innovative, smart growth, respecting our heritage while meeting modern needs. Thoughtful development, like implementing Creative workspace solutions, brings tech startups into restored Route 66 buildings. As someone who's helped shape Albuquerque's real estate landscape for years, I'm excited about what's coming next. We're seeing new housing developments that complement rather than compete with historic structures.

Now, it’s your turn to be a part of our story! Whether you're looking to live or invest near historic Route 66 or just curious about how our city is growing, I'd love to share more insights with you. The Sandi Pressley Team knows every inch of this corridor and its surrounding neighborhoods—it's not just our business; it's our passion for helping Albuquerque write its next chapter while cherishing its past.

Give us a call, so we can chat about the exciting changes along Route 66, or better yet, let me take you on a tour to see it all firsthand. Until next time, keep exploring our beautiful city! 505-263-2173

The Real Estate Renaissance in Downtown Albuquerque

by Sandi Pressley

Walking by the historic Rail Yards on First Street, I started thinking about Albuquerque’s Rail Yards to Riches story. I've been advising clients in real estate for over 30 years and have witnessed Albuquerque's growth and evolution. Watching the Rail Yards transformation makes me more excited than ever about downtown Albuquerque's incredible evolution. The energy is palpable between Central Avenue and Coal Avenue, where historic buildings are finding new life. The Rail Yards Revival has been truly amazing. The 27-acre Rail Yards redevelopment has exceeded expectations. The $85 million project has transformed the former machine shops into a vibrant mixed-use destination. The 45,000-square-foot innovation hub in the former boiler shop has already attracted tech startups like RocketWing Software and creative firms, including Third Eye Design Studio, driving both commercial and residential demand. Also, Albuquerque is rewriting the book on the Civic Plazas. With the $12 million renovation, the reimagined Civic Plaza has become downtown's beating heart. Third and Tijeras's new 2,500-seat performing arts center has created a cultural corridor drawing investors and homebuyers. Properties within three blocks have seen values appreciate 18% since January, with condos at The Banque Lofts selling for an average of $285 per square foot.

Investment Sweet Spots
The Rail Yards and Central Avenue corridor, particularly along Fourth Street, has emerged as a hotspot. For example, the Occidental Life conversion project created 22 luxury loft residences that sold out in just 38 days, with prices ranging from $425,000 to $895,000. We recently guided a client to purchase a 3,200-square-foot warehouse-turned-loft space on Second Street for $680,000. They're excited because the property already appraised at $762,000. The imagination and vision shown by Albuquerque's leadership and the innovative partnerships with private enterprises have created  “Mixed-Use Magic.”

The 2024 zoning ordinances have opened exciting possibilities in the Innovation District. The former First National Bank building at Central and Third now houses 18 live-work spaces, commanding rents of $2.85 per square foot – 40% above the market average. The upcoming $35 million Silver Avenue Project will add 120 residential units atop 18,000 square feet of retail space. So what do we see coming in 2025? The Innovation District expansion between Broadway and the railroad tracks will add 250,000 square feet of commercial space by late 2025. The new ART rapid transit connection along Central, featuring eight downtown stops, will further enhance accessibility. We're already working with developers on four mixed-use projects totaling $178 million in investment.

Your Investment Opportunity
Current entry points include:
Historic office conversions starting at $375 per square foot
New construction lofts from $425,000
Mixed-use retail spaces averaging $295 per square foot
Development parcels between First and Fourth Streets from $85 per square foot
Want to explore downtown's investment potential? Let's meet at Villa Myriam Coffee in the Rail Yards Market. We'll share our detailed market analysis and show properties matching your investment goals. With our deep knowledge of downtown's transformation, we can help you make informed decisions in this dynamic market. Call us at 505-263-2173

Home Buyer's Guide to ABQ Flood Zones

by Sandi Pressley

Since 1979, I’ve been helping families find their perfect homes in Albuquerque and I’ve learned that one of the most overlooked aspects of home buying here is understanding our unique flood zones and arroyos. Today, I want to share some crucial insights that could save you both worry and money in the long run.

First, let me explain what makes Albuquerque’s flood zones so unique. Our beautiful desert city experiences what I like to call the “monsoon paradox.” While in a desert, our summer monsoon seasons can bring sudden, intense rainfall that transforms our typically dry arroyos into mighty waterways within minutes. I’ve seen firsthand how these natural drainage systems can impact properties and why it’s so important to understand their role in our landscape.

Recently, I helped a family who fell in love with a home near Bear Canyon Arroyo. They were initially concerned about the location, but after we discussed the flood zone implications and insurance requirements, they decided and they’re still happy with it today. This is why I always educate my clients about our city’s flood zones before purchasing.

Let’s talk about insurance. One of the most common misconceptions is that flood insurance is only necessary if you’re right next to an arroyo. The truth is more complex. Even properties that seem far from visible water features might require flood insurance depending on their FEMA flood zone designation. I’ve saved many clients from surprise costs by checking flood zone status before they fall in love with a property.

Did you know that home values in flood zones can vary significantly? This is where my professional experience helps. In some areas, like parts of the Northeast Heights near arroyos, the beautiful views and natural landscapes enhance property values despite being in a flood zone. The key is understanding the specific zone designation and what it means for your investment.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that homes in areas that present minimal flood risk (X zones) usually have higher prices and are easier to resell. However, I’ve also helped clients find amazing deals on properties in higher risk (AE zones) with a history of flooding by ensuring they understand the proper mitigation strategies and insurance costs upfront. The bottom line is that you must make an informed decision based on your knowledge, comfort level, and budget.

Speaking of budgets, let’s talk about flood insurance costs. Depending on your zone and coverage needs, these can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars annually. I recommend getting quotes before making an offer, as this expense should be factored into your monthly housing budget. One of my recent clients was grateful we did this homework early, as it helped them negotiate a better purchase price to offset the insurance costs.

What about those gorgeous properties right next to Arroyos? They often offer stunning views and privacy but come with specific considerations. I’ve guided many buyers through understanding erosion control measures, setback requirements, and the importance of proper drainage systems. These properties can be excellent investments when you know what to look for and how to protect your investment.

I share the advice with all my clients because standard homeowner insurance policies don’t cover flood damage. If you buy a home in a low flood-risk zone, purchasing an optional flood insurance policy may be a good idea. Albuquerque’s weather patterns are changing, and I’ve seen too many cases where this extra protection proved invaluable.

Perhaps most importantly, I emphasize that being in a flood zone doesn’t mean you should rule out an otherwise perfect home. Some of my happiest clients live in flood zone properties because we took the time to understand the risks, implement proper protections, and factor all costs into their purchase decisions.

Looking to buy in Albuquerque? I would be pleased to help you find your dream home while navigating our unique flood zone considerations. By arming you with the proper knowledge and preparation, we’ll ensure that you make a sound investment that you’ll be happy with for years.

Want to learn more about specific flood zones in your target neighborhood? At the Sandi Pressley Team, our deep understanding of Albuquerque’s unique neighborhoods, from Rio Rancho to the East Mountains, ensures you receive accurate, actionable information about your property. We combine decades of local market expertise with current data analysis to provide a comprehensive, no-obligation home valuation.

Ready to discover your home’s potential in today’s market? Contact the Sandi Pressley Team for a professional, no-obligation home valuation. Your property’s value might not just surprise you – it could be the key to your next opportunity.

If you are interested in specific neighborhood trends or comparing your property to recent sales? We’re happy to provide a detailed market analysis for your area of Albuquerque. Just reach out to our team for personalized insights.

Reach out anytime – I’m always happy to share my expertise and help you make the best decision for your family’s future.

[Note: This article focuses on general principles and experiences and gives insights about Albuquerque’s flood zones rather than specific current data, which should be verified with FEMA and local authorities at the time of purchase.

Remote Work is Reshaping Albuquerque's Housing Market!

by Sandi Pressley

Hey there, future Albuquerque homeowner! You may notice some interesting trends if you're eyeing Albuquerque's current housing market. As someone who's been watching this market evolve, I can tell you one thing for sure—remote work has totally shaken things up in our high desert paradise.

The Remote Work Revolution Hits the 505
Remember when everyone thought the work-from-home trend would fizzle out? Well, surprise! It's 2025, and remote work is here to stay. This shift has brought some fascinating changes to Albuquerque's housing scene, and if you're thinking about buying here, you'll want to know what's up.

Why ABQ is Catching Remote Workers' Eyes
Let's be real – who wouldn't want to take their Zoom calls with the Sandias as a backdrop? Albuquerque's been attracting remote workers like Green Chile attracts food tourists, and for good reason. Our cost of living is still way lower than coastal cities, even with recent changes. That California salary goes a lot further when you're paying New Mexico prices! Not to mention the perfect mix of outdoor adventure, beautiful views and city amenities just outside your home office door.

What This Means for Home Buyers
If you're house hunting in Albuquerque right now, here's what you need to know:
Home offices are the new must-have. Those extra bedrooms and bonus spaces? They're not just spare rooms anymore – they're potential workspaces, and sellers know it. Properties with dedicated office space or ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) are particularly hot right now.
The East Heights and North Valley areas are seeing exceptionally high demand. Why? They have excellent internet infrastructure (crucial for remote work), and those mountain views make your video calls look like you're living in a postcard.

The New Neighborhood Hot Spots
Traditional commute times matter less now, which means previously overlooked neighborhoods are getting their moment in the sun. Areas like:
Nob Hill's outskirts: Still charming, slightly more affordable than central Nob Hill, and perfect for that work-from-coffee-shop life
Rio Rancho: More space for your money, and those fiber optic internet speeds are no joke
Cedar Crest and East Mountains: For those who want the full mountain lifestyle while keeping ABQ's amenities within reach

Tips for House Hunting in 2025
1. Check the internet speeds before you fall in love with a house. That Adobe charm won't make up for spotty video calls.
2. Consider your work setup. Do you need a quiet space for calls? An open-concept layout might be better than your best bet.
3. Consider the future. A flexible space could add serious value even if you're not working remotely now.

Looking Ahead
While no one can predict the future perfectly (wouldn't that make house hunting easier?), all signs point to Albuquerque continuing to attract remote workers. Our mix of affordability, quality of life, and growing tech infrastructure makes us a natural fit for this new working method.
Whether you're a local looking to upgrade or an out-of-stater drawn by our sunny skies and reasonable home prices, understanding how remote work has changed our market will help you make smarter decisions in your house hunt.
And hey, if you become my new neighbor, welcome to the Land of Enchantment! Just remember – it's pronounced "Al-bu-ker-key," and yes, the green chile is that good.

Open Your Heart to Create a Special Albuquerque Thanksgiving

by Sandi Pressley

The Sandia Mountains seem to glow brighter when the ABQ comes together. This Thanksgiving, while the smell of green chile/pine nut stuffing fills the air, thousands of our neighbors need a helping hand—and your hands could make the difference.
Albuquerque is different from most cities. In Albuquerque, we're not just neighbors—we're family. Each Victorian home in Huning Highland and adobe dwelling in Old Town tells a story. Sadly, some stories include empty plates and lonely hearts, and the holidays can intensify these feelings.
Where Can You Bless Your Community?
Roadrunner Food Bank: They need people for turkey distribution. Forget the gym, and try a new workout, lifting frozen turkeys.
Joy Junction: Serve meals with a side of dignity. Your smile could bring hope brighten someone's day.
Silver Horizons: Help deliver meals to our elderly neighbors. Bonus: You may learn alot about old Albuquerque as your elderly neighbors share their stories.
Storehouse New Mexico: Stock shelves, pack food boxes, and maybe practice a little Spanglish with fellow volunteers.
What You'll Get in Return
A full heart, fuller than your Thanksgiving tummy
New meaningful stories to share at your own dinner
New friends who share your giving spirit
The satisfaction of knowing you've made ABQ a better place
Ready to Be a Holiday Super Hero?
Share life with those in need on your time. Whether you share an hour or two or a whole day, every minute matters. Make it a family event, bring some friends, or come alone—you’ll be welcomed with open arms—just like that tía’s who always have room for one more at their table.
In the land of enchantment, we don't just dream about making a difference – we come together to make it happen, one heart at a time. If you can't volunteer on Thanksgiving Day, our community organizations throughout the Holidays. Your bright, giving spirit can lift someone up any day of the year!

Best Albuquerque Neighborhoods: Your Weekly Neighborhood Feature

by Sandi Pressley

Hi. I’m Sandi Pressley, a proud native of Albuquerque with over 45 years of professional real estate experience. Over that time, I’ve seen a lot happen in Albuquerque. Today, while standing at the corner of Central Avenue, where the Route 66 neon sign still flickers against the Sandia Mountains' evening canvas, I thought about how Albuquerque has transformed so much but managed to keep its soul intact.
Over the years, I've watched our desert gem evolve from a dusty stop along the trip between the coasts into a vibrant city where 100-year-old adobe walls stand together with shiny new architecture and major tech startups. The city has truly transformed before my eyes, like a mirage in the desert. I remember when Nob Hill was just finding its bohemian groove, and now I watch places like Los Ranchos and High Desert become real estate darlings for National investors.
But you know, somehow, between the boom of craft breweries and the flood of California transplants, Albuquerque has managed to keep its melting pot ingredients authentic: the smell of roasting green chile as you walk through Old Town, Native and traditional healer’s practices next to modern medical facilities, and ancient petroglyphs whispering their secrets in the wind from the West Mesa. This unique, beautiful dance between tradition and progress, evolution and preservation, creates the captivating story of our unique city. I thought this would be a great time to have fun and share some of the fantastic neighborhoods around today’s Albuquerque.
Come back each week to enjoy a walk through the best neighborhoods in Albuquerque, presented by the Sandi Pressley Team.
